About the Program
The Educational Leadership Program empowers Jewish educational leaders from a wide range of settings to sharpen their educational visions, broaden their understanding of the educational landscape, and develop leadership skills to bring their visions to fruition. The program consists of four in-person seminars over 18 months, three in Boston and one in Israel, along with online learning between seminars.
Fellows explore Jewish educational purposes and pedagogies, and work on leadership skills such as communication, sensemaking, change management and network building. Up to 20 fellows are selected from a wide range of educational settings, including congregational schools, camps, day schools, federations and educational start-ups. After the second seminar, fellows work with advisors to hone their educational visions and deepen their impact on the field.
The program envisions an educational landscape in which leaders have sophisticated and clear educational visions, along with the leadership skills and professional networks necessary to bring those visions to life. The program also aims to cultivate leaders with the capacity to collaborate across educational settings to best serve the educational needs of the Jewish community and who contribute new ideas to the field. The program launched its first cohort in 2022 and its second in 2024.
The Educational Leadership Program operates under the umbrella of the Boston-based Mandel Institute for Nonprofit Leadership, which empowers leaders to achieve visions of social, cultural and educational change.
