Our Focus
Investing in leaders of educational, nonprofit and public sector institutions with the aim of deepening their impact on the larger society.
The Mandel brothers strongly believed that collective efforts rise and fall on the quality of leadership and that great leadership entails clarity of vision and moral purpose and precision in management and execution.
The Mandel Foundation operates and supports leadership programs across its areas of engagement in North America and Israel, providing visionary leaders with the tools to deepen their impact on society.
In North America, we operate programs focused on the development of Jewish nonprofit, educational and cultural leaders, as well as leaders of neighborhood-based organizations in the city of Cleveland. In Israel, we operate over a dozen programs that train leaders across the spectrum of civil society, with a focus on education, culture, and youth and community.
$23M Gift Establishes the Mandel Global Leadership and Learning Institute at Cleveland Clinic
In 2019, the Mandel Foundation made a $23 million gift to the Cleveland Clinic to enhance the Clinic’s global leadership and learning focus. This includes expansion of its leadership programs through the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Global Leadership and Learning Institute where thousands of caregivers benefit from innovative courses, preparing them for current healthcare challenges and future leadership roles. Additionally, the gift established the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Global Leadership and Learning Pathway within the Mandel Institute, nurturing top-performing caregivers for executive positions.
Annual Support Funds Innovative Programming at Mandel Center for Leadership Development
Through operating support from the Mandel Foundation, the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County launched the Mandel Center for Leadership Development (Mandel Center) in 2016 to develop high-performing volunteer and professional leaders in one of North America's largest and fastest-growing Jewish communities. Through the Foundation’s ongoing support, the Mandel Center established a new JDC (American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee) Entwine Partnership focused on young leadership development as well as advanced leadership training through the Wexner Heritage program. Annual support from the Foundation also funds the Mandel Center’s successful lay and professional leadership initiatives, including the Leadership Engagement, Action, and Planning (LEAP) Initiative for young professionals, the Emerging Leadership Program for mid-career professionals, and the intergenerational Mandel Leadership Institute.
