A generous gift from the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Foundation will enable Cleveland Clinic to expand its focus on global leadership and learning and create a program focused on developing future leaders in healthcare.

The $23 million dollar grant will accelerate innovative leadership courses at the newly named Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Global Leadership and Learning Institute through the development of impactful experiential learning, simulations, assessments and research-driven content that will prepare leaders from around the world to solve future healthcare delivery issues.

“The Mandel Global Leadership and Learning Institute will allow high-quality programs to be delivered in a technologically advanced space at the new Samson Pavilion at the Health Education Campus, a partnership between Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland Clinic that opened this summer,” said Gina Cronin, executive director of the Mandel Institute. “Thousands of Cleveland Clinic caregivers will take part in these expanded leadership programs, focusing on their professional development for today’s healthcare sector and preparing themselves for healthcare leadership of the future.”

In addition, the gift also creates the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Global Leadership and Learning Pathway, a training initiative housed within the Mandel Institute that will support top-performing Cleveland Clinic caregivers and cultivate them for future executive leadership roles throughout the organization.

“Cleveland Clinic is grateful for the Mandel Foundation’s generous gift, and for their deep commitment to fostering exceptional leadership and inspiring all of us to work to improve the lives of people around the world,” said Tom Mihaljevic, M.D., president and CEO of Cleveland Clinic.

Morton L. Mandel, a successful entrepreneur and businessman, is the author of “It’s All About Who You Hire, How They Lead,” a book that inspires young professionals to focus on leadership fundamentals and seasoned leaders to reinvigorate their passion and commitment to excellence. His book will be incorporated into the Mandel Institute’s training programs.

“I am delighted to continue our foundation’s partnership with the Cleveland Clinic. Our foundation believes that a commitment to developing exceptional leaders, an ethical culture, and a strong commitment to values will result in a more successful organization, and through such leaders, stronger and healthier communities worldwide,” said Morton L. Mandel.

This latest gift from the Mandel Foundation follows significant support to Cleveland Clinic from the foundation through the years, including gifts to support the Morton L. Mandel Chair for Urologic Cancer Research at the Glickman Urological Institute, the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Preventive Medicine Suite, and the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Conference Center at the new Health Education Campus.
