- Western Reserve Historical Society
Founded in 1867, the Western Reserve Historical Society (WRHS) is Cleveland’s oldest existing cultural institution, overseeing the collection and preservation of documents and objects relating to various aspects of Northeast Ohio’s history. The Mandel Foundation has a long-standing philanthropic partnership with WRHS, extending back to the early 1980’s. In 2016, the Foundation supported the establishment of Cleveland Starts Here®, a permanent exhibit where guests can immerse themselves in 225+ years of Cleveland history. Most recently in 2020, the Foundation provided support to renovate and reimagine the WRHS Library and Administrative Headquarters, located within the Cleveland History Center. The Foundation’s partnership with WRHS exemplifies the Mandel brothers’ deep commitment to their hometown of Cleveland.
