- Providence House
Founded in 1981 to provide emergency shelter for children in Greater Cleveland, Providence House has evolved into a diverse, multi-generational program offering hope and healing to over 14,000 children and families. The original Providence House emergency shelter and crisis nursery are in Tremont, a west-side Cleveland neighborhood, and 88% of children receiving services live below the federal poverty level. To expand its impact and meet the needs of children and families living in Cleveland’s east side, Providence House launched the Giving Hope for the PHuture Campaign, a $16.5 million community redevelopment project in the Buckeye-Shaker neighborhood. The new facility includes a 20-bed crisis nursery, security cameras, lighting, other equipment, and repairs to the building. The nursery will support 24/7 shelter and care for up to 250 infants and children annually. Providence House East Campus will have a life-changing impact on families in crisis. It will be a central anchor of the community development strategy to address distress and disinvestment in the neighborhood.
