- Jewish Family Service Association of Cleveland
The Jewish Family Service Association of Cleveland, originally the Hebrew Immigration Aid Society, has provided individuals and families with counseling and social service programming since 1873. The Mandel Foundation granted $1.3 million to Jewish Family Service Association (JFSA) in 2023 to support capital projects at the Cleveland Chesed Center and the JFSA Kindness Center. This funding supports the consolidation of adult day programs for individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities in a newly purchased Beachwood facility, enhancing accessibility, safety, and logistical efficiency. The grant also covers renovations at the Chesed Center, a kosher food pantry, to improve safety, security, and client experience, including updates for deferred maintenance and new office space for expanded services like financial literacy and vocational support. Prior gifts to JFSA include $1 million in 2020 for JFSA's new headquarters capital campaign and general support dating back to 1993.
