The Israel Museum is the largest cultural institution in the State of Israel and is ranked among the world’s leading art and archeology museums. Mandel Foundation support for the Israel Museum first took place in 1971, expanding in the 1980s to include annual operations support and artwork purchases. A $12 million endowment and capital gift in 2009 established the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Wing for Jewish Art and Life, one of four major wings of the Israel Museum. Featuring religious and secular artifacts from Jewish communities worldwide, the Mandel Wing connects the art, culture, and history of Judaism from the Middle Ages to the present day. Foundation support was provided for the Bezalel Collection exhibit gallery renovation in 2024, coinciding with the museum’s 60th anniversary and featuring over 800 pieces from the Bezalel School of Arts. In 2025, the Foundation awarded a three-year, $4.5 million matching grant to support the Museum’s special exhibits and related programming.
