Hebrew Academy of Cleveland, founded in 1943 by Holocaust survivors, is Ohio’s largest Jewish day school and a national leader in Jewish education. The Mandel Foundation’s partnership with the Academy includes a $4.5 million capital grant in 2019 toward the Simon and Rose Mandel Building on the Oakwood Campus, supporting expanded early childhood and elementary school space, and a $4 million grant in 2023 for the Taylor Road Campus rehabilitation, now known as the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Building, which serves approximately 500 girls in grades 1–8 with updated classrooms, STEM and computer labs, a gymnasium, and student support spaces. These investments reflect the Foundation’s commitment to Jewish life and education by strengthening institutions grounded in Jewish values to build community and prepare future generations for lives of purpose and leadership.
