- Cleveland Zoological Society
Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, founded in 1882, is a regional landmark and global conservation resource that welcomes more than 1 million visitors each year. The Mandel Foundation’s support of the Zoo and its nonprofit partner, the Cleveland Zoological Society, dates back to 1985 and expanded significantly with a $500,000 grant in 2017 to establish the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Welcome Pavilion, which introduces guests to the Zoo’s conservation programs and encourages support for wildlife protection.
In 2020, a $3 million Foundation grant supported the renovation of the Zoo’s Administration Building, creating the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Auditorium and updated office, donor, guest services, conference, and reception spaces. This support reflects the Mandel Foundation’s commitment to strengthening institutions and investing in organizations that educate, inspire, and connect people to the world around them.
