- Cleveland Institute of Art
Founded in 1882, the Cleveland Institute of Art (CIA) is one of the nation's leading accredited independent art and design colleges. The Mandel brothers believed the arts enriched the Cleveland community and began supporting CIA in 1986. Thirty years later, the Foundation invested in CIA’s unique approach to humanities-based art and design leadership education, including the Professional Practices Course, which empowers artists to develop the business skills necessary to succeed as creative entrepreneurs. The Foundation also established the Mandel Leadership Scholarship for high-achieving students, a 4-year, full tuition program. In 2013, the Jack, Joseph, and Morton Mandel Atrium was named in recognition of a $1 million grant supporting the CIA’s campus unification. The Mandel Atrium is a central hub and gathering place for the CIA community, encouraging collaboration and idea sharing, which aligns with the Foundation’s commitment to Cleveland, leadership development and humanities education.
