Mandel Foundation Selects Jehuda Reinharz as President

CLEVELAND - (April 14, 2010)  Morton L. Mandel, Chairman of the Mandel Foundation, announced that Jehuda Reinharz, President of Brandeis University, will join the Foundation as its new President commencing on or before July 1, 2011.

Reinharz is the first individual to be named to the new position of President.  Mr. Mandel will continue as Chairman and CEO.  Mort Mandel also names Reinharz as his eventual successor and CEO. Mr. Mandel stated, "President Reinharz shares the vision and passion that my brothers, Jack, Joe and I have for our philanthropic work.  We believe that exceptional leaders are the critical factor that enables organizations to contribute significantly to society.  Dr. Reinharz brings a vast array of professional experiences and a keen understanding of the Foundation's current work worldwide."

President Reinharz became the seventh President of Brandeis University in 1994 and recently announced his intent to retire.  A search is currently underway for his successor.  Dr. Reinharz received concurrent bachelor degrees from Columbia University and the Jewish Theological Seminary, a master's degree from Harvard and a doctorate from Brandeis University.  He is the author of twenty-three books and serves on a large number of Boards and Advisory Committees, including the Mandel Foundation Board.

The Mandel Foundation was established in 1953 by Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel of Cleveland, Ohio.  Its primary mission is to provide outstanding leadership for the nonprofit world.  The Foundation supports leadership education programs in its own institutions and at selected universities and organizations.
