Here at the Mandel Leadership Institute, we’ve been doing some thinking about what kind of leaders really make a difference to Jewish education and Jewish life.

We’ve come up with a map that we’ve found useful, and we think you might be interested.

We’re also pleased to announce that we are accepting applications for the 2008-9 academic year of the Mandel Fellows in Jewish Education, a program for outstanding social entrepreneurs, Jewish educators, and communal leaders.
The Mandel Fellows in Jewish Education (MFJE) is a one-year, residential fellowship program in Jerusalem from September through July. 

Target Audience:  The fellowship is aimed at exceptional mid-career professionals with a proven track record in Jewish educational and/or communal leadership. The program provides Fellows with a rich, supportive environment, over the course of a year, in which to:

• Develop a compelling vision of what they are seeking to achieve in the next phase of their careers, along with a strategic plan of how to implement it.
• Reflect on their professional practice, examining the fundamental assumptions that have informed their work to date.
• Challenge and refine their conceptions of the goals and methods of contemporary Jewish education, through study with top scholars, policymakers and practitioners from around the world.
