Sharona Bar-Nes

Head of the Education Administration at the Mateh Yehuda Regional Council
Sharona Bar-Nes holds an MA in Educational Counseling from the Education Department of Bar Ilan University; a Bachelor's degree in Educational Counseling and Social Sciences from Bar Ilan University and a Teaching Certificate. Prior to her studies at the Mandel School of Educational Leadership she established and managed the pre-acadmic preparatory program at the Jerusalem College of Engineering. Previously she served as Director of the pre-academic program at the Social Involvement Unit at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Amongst her various positions she counselled management and teaching staffs; provided pedagogical consultations to the AMIT Youth Village in Petach Tikva. Ms. Bar-Nes was a senior faculty member and facilitator of the "Micha-el" project, aiming to educational and personal excellency. She was also the director of the "Incentive" program at Bar Ilan University meant to increase the accessibility of peripheral populations to higher education.
Her final project at MSEL focused on the connection between parents and their children's education by examining the drop-out rate amongst first-generation students in institions of higher education.
Since graduating from Cohort 16 Ms. Bar-Nes has served as the Head of the Education Administration at the Mateh Yehuda Regional Council. She is responsible for the 10,000 students in the school system, 20 schools and 100 kindergartens. Six of the schools and twenty of the kindergartens are new and were established under her management during the past four years. The Education Administration budget is approximately 110 million NIS a year, excluding special budgets.
